Josh Groban is now a multi platinum selling musician. Although classically trained most of his music has a pop influence to it. He released his first Christmas CD Noel in October 2007 and it has since gone five times platinum. It is now one of the most successful Christmas albums in history. When initially released it stayed on the number one spot for 5 weeks.
The playlist has thirteen tracks. Some of the songs are new versions of Traditional Christmas carols, for example the first track 'Silent Night' He includes a few original versions of sounds like 'Little Drummer Boy' , 'I'll Be Home For Christmas', 'Ave Maria','The First Noel','Panis Angelicus'. He ends the playlist with another traditional carol 'O Come All Ye Faithful'. There are two duets on the CD with RnB artist Brian McKnight and Faith Hill.
Noel also features two choirs the Mormon Tabernacle Choir for 'O Come O Ye Faithful' and a Kirk Franklin choir. The London Symphony Orchestra plays all of the music. 'I'll Be Home For Christmas' has an added personal touch to it. It starts off with messages from soldiers stationed in Iraq that they send to their families back home. The producer behind this CD was David Foster, who turns everything he touches into gold.
His fans love this Christmas collection. Oprah loves this CD so much she has included it in her favourite things list for a few years now. Some fans are complaining that they should have also included 'O Holy Night'. Many also wish that this CD had a few more tracks.
